Dr Thibault Magrangeas (Medicine MBBS, 2022)
Dr Thibault Magrangeas has been awarded the 2022 Wellington Medal. The medal recognises a student’s excellent academic achievements and contributions to King’s and their future potential. Dr Magrangeas was chosen for his academic accomplishments, having received several prizes at King’s. He was a proactive student leader and participated in various activities – from teaching medical French to colleagues through the Anglo-French Medical Society to his role as President of King's Fencing Society.

Dr Najjia Ashraf (Clinical Dermatology, 2007)
Dr Najjia Ashraf, Consultant Dermatologist and Pakistan’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Dermatology Specialist, is making major breakthroughs in the skincare industry. Through innovative technology and sophisticated algorithms, Dr Ashraf uses AI to thoroughly analyse skin and accurately diagnose complex conditions like cancer. She currently runs her own practice in Pakistan, where she enjoys using her scientific skills and medical expertise to improve the lives of her patients.

Nicholas Brown (MMus Musicology, 2011)
Nicholas A Brown was appointed Assistant Chief of the Library of Congress Music Division in Washington, DC in June 2023. He helps oversee the collection and activities of the largest music library in the world. The library holds numerous British treasures, including the manuscript of Benjamin Britten’s opera Peter Grimes. Brown credits King’s with deepening his passion for music. He first researched at the Library of Congress while preparing his dissertation on Leonard Bernstein’s Songfest.

Megan Clawson (English with Film Studies, 2021)
Megan Clawson was offered her first publishing deal with Avon, HarperCollins just months after graduating. Since publication in 2023, her novel Falling Hard for the Royal Guard has sold tens of thousands of copies across the world and is being translated into four different languages. Her second novel Love at First Knight will be published again by Avon, HarperCollins in 2024. Megan regularly shares videos on British history with her 364k+ TikTok followers.

Ivor Moody (Theology, 1980)
Ivor has published his second book, Six More Songs, a sequel to Songs for the Soul (2017). The book takes six iconic pop songs spanning the last 40 years or so and suggests new ways much-loved secular music and poetry can be used as a lens to focus anew on the Christian faith. The chapters deal with themes like despair and hope, doubt and faith, war and peace and more.

Get Into Law, a new careers book published by law alumna Meera Patel, focuses on accelerating students into their own unique legal careers. Meera facilitated a workshop with her book at King’s earlier this year and is encouraging any student or alum navigating legal job and training contract applications right now to seek a copy of the book in the King’s careers library. The Venerable Dr (Air Vice-Marshal) Giles Legood FKC (Theology & Religious Studies, 1988)
On Thursday 27 April 2023 at Buckingham Palace, the King presented the Royal Navy, the army and Royal Air Force with Standards and Colours for use at the Coronation the following week. The Chaplain-in-Chief, The Venerable Dr (Air Vice-Marshal) Giles Legood consecrated the Colour for the RAF, alongside his Royal Navy and army colleagues. He commented that he ‘was honoured to preside at this service’.

Daniel has created his own LEGO set, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the discovery of the structure of DNA so he can ‘promote science to kids and honour Rosalind Franklin’. Daniel submitted his design to the LEGO Ideas platform, which received over 1,000 votes in two weeks. If his model reaches 10,000 votes, LEGO will consider developing it. It was also selected as the LEGO staff pick of the day. Read more.

Reverend Dr Michael Volland (MA Youth Ministry & Theological Education, 2004)
Reverend Dr Michael Volland has been announced as the next Bishop of Birmingham. Michael currently lives in Cambridge, where he serves as Principal of Ridley Hall. A talented sculptor, Michael spent three years studying sculpture and worked as an artist before joining the Church of England. He was ordained in 2006. Michael will be consecrated on 30 November 2023 and installed in Birmingham in the new year. Read more.
